Stave Hill Ecological Park and Russia Dock Woodland

Stave Hill was established as one of London’s most ecologically-valuable green spaces in 1988. It’s a seven-minute walk from Canada Water Dockside and is a place to learn about urban ecology and a research facility. A ‘mosaic of habitats’ has been created, over the years, to provide homes for rare and vital species to the Rotherhithe Peninsula. Russia Dock Woodland, next door, is a belt of natural woodland and fields in the place of the infilled historic Russia Dock. Open to all, all year round, Stave Hill Park is a place to wander and to pause, with London’s cityscape as a backdrop.

Surrey Docks Fitness & Water Sports Centre

On the edge of Surrey Docks’ 1 km body of still water, the Surrey Docks Fitness & Water Sports Centre is the place to learn new activities – from kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, to windsurfing, dinghy sailing and power-boating – as well as to work out in the gym and fitness studios. Regular classes and race meets run for adults and children.

Southwark Park

One of south London’s biggest and most-loved parks. As well as green spaces for games, picnics and events, its 63 acres contain a café, bowling green, boating lake and wildlife park. Southwark Park is open all year round.

Canada Water Café

A gem of a place for breakfast, brunch and dinner, with Italian roots and quirky interiors, serving up handmade pizza and pasta as part of a full menu of treats.

Mousetail Coffee

Set up by Peckham-based coffee lovers, Mousetail offers grab and go brews, as well as relaxed indoor and outdoor seating areas.

The Mayflower pub

The oldest pub on the river Thames is a homely, characterful place to meet friends for dinner in the candlelit restaurant or to while away some hours on the decked terrace with a real ale and a good book. It has an open fire in the colder months. The pub was the site of the 1620 mooring point for the Pilgrim Fathers’ Mayflower ship before it set sail for Southampton and then the Americas.

Phantom Peak - League of Adventure

Canada Water Dockside is hosting Phantom Peak, an amazing immersive experience for children and adults from escape room superstars, League of Adventure. Step inside a “steampunk mining town” on the Western frontier and get to know the characters you’ll encounter as you make your way around the trail, solving its mysteries across canals, in saloon bars and under the banner of the Miramine Cooperative…

Canada Water Market

This is a new produce market from Squid Markets (founders of Wapping Docklands Market) and British Land. It’s on every Sunday and is the place to go for fresh, artisanal baked goods, deli products, street food and a bar – as well as houseplant stalls.

Decathlon

Decathlon is at the heart of Canada Water and is a hub for sports and play. Its new, £14 million store offers a huge range of equipment and clothing for watersports, climbing, camping, team sports, racket sports and adventuring – and it’s also home to activity areas for indoor golf, ball sports on the rooftop MUGA court, and a fitness studio with a packed timetable of classes on offer.
